Map illustration of the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio, California for the 2024 County Fair and Date Festival. My task was to quickly create a full-color vector map of the venue for use in digital promotion, print media, and on-site signage. The map had to clearly delineate the fair’s different sections, but without too many details so as to remain visually uncluttered.

This project was on a condensed timeline, and those shouldn’t start from a blank canvas. They’re all about execution, so I very much appreciate the Fairgrounds’ agency, Pickering Events, having everything ready to go—design assets, creative direction, a detailed mockup, dedicated review time, and mutual agreement on a rush fee—so I could hit the ground running.

I derived the color palette from the festival’s existing logo family, the layout and typography from last year’s map, and added vector icons for the more notable points of interest. Major event sponsors were allowed their own logos, but I made sure those didn’t interfere with the overall appearance, which can happen when disparate brand identities compete for limited space.
