The third of three big 2026 projects to cross the finish line was actually the first one in the door this year: a map of the various cabin and campsite locations at Pine Acres, a camping resort in central Massachusetts.
My task was to create a custom, one-panel, full-color, tabloid-size vector map graphic of Pine Acres’ environs, for general use in promotion and on-site, highlighting new amenities for the upcoming 2027 season.
Like other recent projects, I used a vector-file base derived from Open Street Map, picked apart layer by layer, re-colored, and augmented with work in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. I used the 2026 map’s brand identity to make a pleasant, outdoorsy-vibed color palette distinguishing the types of campsites using the same colors and similar iconography to the previous map.
I actually made two full maps of Pine Acres for this project, flipping the south-at-top 2026 map to north-at-top for V1 and then north-at-top-left for the revised V2, cutting off most of nearby Lake Dean. Creating that V2 actually ballooned the overall timeline, because complete details and multiple-stakeholder priorities on long projects can get lost in translation.
Regardless, my thanks to the Pine Acres team for working with me, especially Carolyn Lariviere for skillfully coordinating communication between all involved.
