The second of three big 2026 projects to cross the finish line is this map of multipurpose trails—bicycle and pedestrian routes—in Fulshear, Texas, a community outside of Houston.
My task was to create a custom one-panel, full color, 15′ x 10′ vector map graphic of Fulshear and environs, for use as wall art in a multifamily amenity space, highlighting multipurpose trails, schools, parks, and other family-oriented points of interest.
Like other recent projects, I used a vector-file base derived from Open Street Map, picked apart layer by layer, re-colored, and augmented with work in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. I used the project’s existing “Alexan” brand identity to make a high-contrast color palette distinguishing trails against roadways, waterways, and the general background.
Some fun trivia: this feels like a bit of a callback to my old “Keir By Bike” projects from early 2019, in which I tracked my own cycling progress and routes in various cities around Southern California. So it’s maybe easy to see why I jumped at the chance to make this Fulshear map.
Thanks to the team at Kathy Andrews Interiors for their collaboration and flexibility in working with me, especially Sara Reinsch for coordinating this project’s moving parts.
